Nothing is more inspiring to us than a happy client. It encourages us to continue creating, keeping the lives and needs of our clients at the forefront of our designs. But how amazing it was to find out that one of our designs has not only fit the needs of the client we designed it for, it has inspired a new design professional. We received this letter in the mail the other day from an occupant of one of our residential designs and were so touched by what they wrote, we just had to share.

We have sought to create functional and beautiful architecture that will stand the test of time since this business was founded over twenty years ago, but what an added bonus to have had a small part in shaping the course of someone's life.

So to this special client of ours, thank YOU!

Fallingwater by Frank Lloyd Wright

Ryan in our office recently took a tour of one of the most famous homes designed by architect Frank Lloyd Wright called Fallingwater, located in rural southwestern Pennsylvania. The home was designed by Wright in 1935 for the Edgar Kaufmann family, president of Kaufmann's Department Store in Pittsburgh. This unique home is on the Smithsonian's Life List of "28 Places to visit before you die," it was designated as a National Landmark in 1966, and in 1991, members of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) named it the "best all-time work of American architecture."

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; A little inspiration from HH Richardson

There have been so many before us that have inspired the generations that follow. From leaders and revolutionaries like Abraham Lincoln and Mahatma Gandhi, to artists like Leonardo Da Vinci and Michaelangelo. From builders and titans like Henry Ford and Bill Gates, to scientists and thinkers like Albert Einstein and Aristotle, heroes and icons like Mother Teresa and Neil Armstrong, they all have left a lasting impact on the world.

So who inspires us in our trade here at Visbeen Associates? Richardson popularized the late Victorian style of architecture named after him called Richardsonian Romanesque. He studied at Harvard College, Tulane University and École des Beaux Arts in Paris. He was only the second US citizen to attend the École's architectural division and he developed a very unique and highly personal idiom once he returned to the US, adapting in particular the Romanesque style of Southern France. He was famous for designing massive stone buildings with semicircular, wide "Roman" arches over arcades and doorways and patterned masonry arches over windows.

<img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5721714718014871042" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_iTJwACb_UdN4vf-67RPS_lcMZHrhYe4D53x5E0uLkusJ_K_pN0SNAvSuEkskpDQvyFFpRlU6b8sUsO6VuD-6F7I7x4nBLeYMc_4_l8cVnyBHRm5H2zuqJXc5xwt66cqIIcvnkVdnW9k/s320/01_429px-HH_Richardson_Complex.jpg" style="display: block;
